The Rende is a round LED flush ceiling light in white, with a plastic diffuser traced by a fine web of gold lines and a scatter of tiny dots, so it has some detail even before it is lit. It measures 38cm across and only 6cm deep, sitting close to the ceiling. The LED is integrated, with no separate bulb to buy, and it draws 19.5W to give 2,300lm at 3000K, a warm white that feels relaxed rather than clinical. Its IP20 rating settles where it goes: indoors, in dry rooms, and never in a bathroom or on an outdoor wall.

With 2,300lm from one fitting, it has the output to be the main light in a bedroom, a living room, a hallway or a dining room, and the geometric pattern gives a plain white ceiling a little quiet interest. We think the slim 6cm depth is the real gain in rooms with lower ceilings, on landings and in box rooms, where a hanging pendant would eat into headroom.
