Description
The REKA PIR EL Wide is a garden spike light that combines a 7W LED head with a built-in PIR sensor, drawing 340 lumens at a neutral 4000K white. Running directly from 220-240V AC mains, it does away with a separate low-voltage transformer. The wide beam reaches up to 90 degrees, spreading light across a generous area rather than picking out a single point, while the PIR triggers the output on movement. Across the Atlantic this style of fitting is usually shopped for as a landscape spike or pathway light, and the wide spread suits that brief well.
Staked into soil or a planted border, the Wide is built for marking out and lighting the routes people actually walk. The broad 90 degree throw makes it a sensible choice along a path edge, beside a driveway, near a side gate or across a planted bed, where the motion sensor brings the light up only as someone approaches and saves it running through the night. Because the output is broad rather than tightly focused, think of it as washing a stretch of ground and low planting rather than projecting a long narrow beam. Several spikes can be spaced along a route to keep the lit zones overlapping as the layout changes.
Construction is aluminium alloy in an anthracite finish, which sits quietly against paving, render and planting. The IP54 rating makes it splash-resistant and suited to sheltered and covered outdoor spots such as a porch or carport, though it should be kept clear of fully exposed positions, direct water jets and standing water. It runs straight off mains AC with no external driver to specify, mounts on its integral ground spike, and the 4000K LED is rated for 30,000 hours. This fitting is not dimmable. The wider Reka range covers further spike and ground options in the same anthracite finish.

Frequently Asked
What IP rating does it have and where can it be used outdoors?
It is rated IP54, which means it is splash-resistant and made for sheltered or covered outdoor positions such as a porch, carport or planted border under cover. Keep it clear of fully exposed spots, direct water jets and any standing water, as IP54 is not rated for submersion.
Does it run on mains or need a transformer?
It runs directly from 220-240V AC mains, so no separate low-voltage transformer or external driver is required. You simply connect it to a suitable outdoor mains supply through the spike mounting.
How does the PIR sensor work?
The built-in PIR sensor detects movement nearby and brings the 7W LED up automatically, then lets it switch off again once the area is clear. This keeps it from running all night and makes it useful for marking paths, gates and driveways only when someone is present.
How should the fitting be cleaned and cared for?
Wipe the anthracite aluminium body and the lens with a soft damp cloth, using a mild detergent if needed, and avoid abrasive cleaners that could mark the finish. Clearing soil and leaf debris from the head now and then keeps the wide beam and the sensor working cleanly.
