Description
This R7S LED bulb is a double-ended linear lamp built to replace an old linear-halogen tube. It draws just 6W while putting out 550 lumens, so it runs far cooler and uses a fraction of the energy of the halogen stick it stands in for. The light is a 3000K warm white, a soft and inviting tone, and the 110 degree beam angle spreads it evenly along the length of the bulb rather than firing it in a single direction.
It fits the slim R7S sockets used in linear fittings such as flood-style work lamps, picture lights and uplighters, sliding between the contacts at each end with a gentle spring tension. At 119mm long it suits the standard 118mm linear holder, and the warm 3000K output and Ra 80 colour rendering make it a sensible choice for living spaces, hallways and study corners where colours should still read accurately. It is a directional accent and task lamp rather than a primary room light, so judge its reach by how it grazes a wall or fills a fitting rather than by floor coverage. Being IP20 rated, it is for dry indoor use only and should be kept clear of bathrooms, damp areas and anywhere outdoors.
The lamp uses a J-type LED light source in a compact 119 by 17 by 119mm body with a white finish, weighing only 46g. It runs on 220 to 240V AC mains through the R7S cap, with an efficiency of 107 lm/W and a rated life of 20,000 hours. This bulb is non-dimmable, so pair it with a standard on/off circuit. We stock the R7S LED range alongside other cap types if you are matching several fittings at once.

Frequently Asked
Which fitting does this bulb need?
It uses an R7S double-ended cap, the slim linear base found in flood-style work lamps, uplighters and picture lights. The bulb is 119mm long, suiting standard 118mm linear holders. It clips in between the spring contacts at each end rather than screwing or twisting.
What halogen wattage does it replace?
At 6W and 550 lumens it stands in for a low-output linear-halogen tube while using a small fraction of the power. The 3000K warm white tone closely matches the colour of the halogen it replaces, so the change in mood is minimal.
Is this bulb dimmable?
No, this R7S LED is non-dimmable and should be used on a standard on/off circuit. Fitting it to a dimmer switch can cause flicker or buzzing and may shorten its life.
Can I use it in a bathroom or outdoors?
No, the bulb is IP20 rated for dry indoor use only, so keep it out of bathrooms, damp areas and any outdoor location. Whether a fitting is suitable for those settings depends on the fitting's own rating, not the bulb.
