Description

The QTX XLR male to RCA phono socket adapter converts a 3-pin XLR male connector to an RCA phono socket, allowing balanced XLR outputs to connect to unbalanced RCA inputs. The adapter carries pins 1 and 3 to the RCA ground and pin 2 to the RCA signal, creating an unbalanced connection suitable for consumer audio equipment, DJ mixers and some studio interfaces.

Designed for DJ setups, home studios and small PA installations where XLR-equipped mixers or amplifiers need to connect to consumer-grade powered speakers, recording interfaces or turntable preamps with RCA inputs. The adapter sits inline at the point of connection, eliminating the need for custom cables when patching between professional and consumer audio gear.

The metal-bodied construction provides shielding against RF interference and physical durability in mobile DJ rigs and fixed installations where connectors are frequently plugged and unplugged. The XLR male end fits standard 3-pin XLR sockets found on mixers, amplifiers and stage boxes, while the RCA socket accepts standard phono plugs from consumer audio cables.

Frequently Asked

Does this maintain balanced audio?

No. The adapter converts from balanced XLR to unbalanced RCA, which means the noise rejection benefits of balanced audio are lost at the point of connection. This is acceptable for short cable runs under 3m but not recommended for long runs in electrically noisy environments.

Which way does the signal flow?

Signal flows from the XLR male end (which plugs into an XLR socket on a mixer or amplifier) to the RCA phono socket (which accepts an RCA plug from a cable). This is typically used to send output from professional gear to consumer equipment.

Is it suitable for microphone signals?

No. This adapter is for line-level audio signals only. Microphone signals require preamplification before they can be converted to RCA line level, and the impedance mismatch would result in extremely low volume and poor frequency response.
