Description

The QTX R80 is a 60W yellow reflector bulb with an E27 screw fitting and a coated glass envelope that filters the full spectrum output down to a saturated yellow beam. The rear reflector inside the bulb directs light forward through the yellow coating, giving a more controlled beam spread than a standard yellow bulb without a reflector.

Designed for stage effects, light sequencers, retail displays and themed entertainment venues where coloured lighting is needed without external filters or gels. The E27 fitting works in standard domestic lampholders as well as stage PAR cans and generic fixtures that accept E27 screw bulbs. The 60W rating provides enough output to project colour across a stage or small room without the heat load of a 100W or higher-wattage halogen.

The yellow coating is applied to the inside of the R80 glass envelope and resists chipping during installation and removal. The bulb is rated for a 750-hour lifespan on 230V mains, which translates to approximately 30 weeks of regular evening use or multiple short-run stage productions. The reflector coating inside the bulb concentrates the beam pattern, reducing spill light and giving a more defined yellow pool when used in open fixtures.

Frequently Asked

Can this be used in a dimmer circuit?

Yes, the QTX R80 is an incandescent bulb and can be dimmed using standard resistive or TRIAC dimmers. Dimming will shift the colour output slightly warmer and reduce the intensity of the yellow beam.

What beam angle does the reflector give?

R80 reflector bulbs typically produce a beam angle between 80-100 degrees. The rear reflector concentrates the light forward compared to a non-reflector bulb, reducing backwash and side spill.

Is it suitable for continuous operation?

The bulb is rated for 750 hours total lifespan. For continuous operation (24/7), expect approximately 31 days of use before replacement. For stage productions running 3-4 hours per evening, the bulb will last multiple months.

Can it be used outdoors?

The bulb itself has no IP rating and is not weather-sealed. It can be used outdoors only when fitted inside a sealed weatherproof luminaire or PAR can housing rated for outdoor use.
