Description

The QTX Essential is a 3m speaker cable with latching SPK plugs at both ends, built around 2 x 0.75mm² conductors (2 x 30 strand, 0.17mm diameter per strand) and a 5.8mm outer diameter soft-grip jacket. The SPK connectors latch into compatible sockets on powered speakers and amplifiers, providing a more secure connection than quarter-inch jacks in mobile or stage environments.

Designed for connecting amplifiers to passive speakers or powered mixers to active monitors in small to medium PA setups, rehearsal rooms, home studios and mobile DJ rigs, the 3m length suits near-field monitor placement or stage monitors positioned within 2-3 metres of the backline. The 0.75mm² cross-sectional area handles typical 8-ohm loads up to around 200W RMS without significant signal loss at this distance.

The soft-grip outer jacket resists tangling during coiling and reduces kinking at the cable exit points behind the SPK plugs. The cable is machine-assembled rather than hand-soldered, giving consistent build quality across production runs. The blue collar strain relief on each plug marks the cable exit point and provides additional flex protection where the cable meets the connector housing.

At 3m length with 0.75mm² CSA, the cable suits typical 8-ohm passive speaker loads up to around 200W RMS. Higher wattages or lower impedances (4 ohm) may benefit from thicker cable to reduce resistance losses.

Are the SPK plugs compatible with standard Speakon sockets?

SPK plugs are not the same as Speakon connectors. SPK plugs use a different latching mechanism and pin configuration. Check your amplifier and speaker rear panels to confirm they accept SPK-type connections before ordering.

Can this cable be used for long cable runs?

The 3m length and 0.75mm² conductor size are suited to short runs between nearby equipment. For runs beyond 5 metres or higher power applications, consider stepping up to 1.5mm² or 2.5mm² speaker cable to maintain signal integrity.

Is the cable directional?

No. Speaker cable is non-directional — either end can connect to the amplifier or the speaker without affecting performance.
