Description

The QTX DMX lighting lead is a 0.75m shielded cable with a 3-pin XLR male plug on one end and a 3-pin XLR female socket on the other, used to connect DMX lighting fixtures in a daisy chain or to link a controller to the first fixture in a lighting rig. The 4mm diameter cable uses a flexible outer jacket over internal shielding to reduce electromagnetic interference from nearby mains cables, radio-frequency sources and other stage equipment.

This short lead length suits tight configurations where fixtures are mounted close together on a truss, or where a controller sits near the first fixture in the chain. Lighting technicians use 0.75m leads to reduce cable clutter on stage floors and truss runs, keeping the DMX signal path tidy without leaving excess cable coiled behind fixtures. The shielding helps maintain signal integrity when the cable runs alongside mains power feeds or audio snakes, which is common in stage and event setups.

DMX512 protocol allows up to 32 devices on a single chain, with a maximum total cable run of approximately 300-400m before signal degradation becomes an issue. For longer runs or more devices, a DMX splitter or repeater is needed to regenerate the signal.
