Description

The QTX black light bulb is a 75W UV-A emitting lamp with a standard ES (E27) Edison screw fitting and a black glass envelope that blocks visible light while allowing ultraviolet wavelengths through. When powered, the bulb produces ultraviolet radiation in the 365-400nm range, causing fluorescent materials, white fabrics and certain paints to glow under the UV emission.

Designed for stage effects, entertainment venues, themed events and party lighting, the bulb fits any standard E27 lamp holder including desktop fixtures, floor lamps and ceiling pendants rated for 75W or higher. The black glass envelope prevents the bulb from casting visible light into the room, concentrating output in the UV spectrum for stronger fluorescent reactions. The bulb operates on standard 230V 50Hz UK mains without requiring a ballast or control gear.

The 75W rating provides sufficient UV output to cover a small to medium room (up to 20-30m²) depending on ambient light levels and the reflectivity of fluorescent materials present. The bulb screws directly into an E27 socket and reaches full output within seconds of being switched on. Lamp life varies with usage patterns but typically ranges between 500-1000 hours of continuous operation.

Frequently Asked

What fitting does this bulb use?

ES (E27) Edison screw fitting, which is the standard large screw base used in most UK domestic lamp holders and ceiling pendants. It fits any E27 socket rated for 75W or higher.

What does a black light bulb do?

A black light bulb emits ultraviolet radiation in the UV-A range (365-400nm) while blocking most visible light. This causes fluorescent materials, white clothing, certain paints and UV-reactive decorations to glow brightly, creating the characteristic purple-blue glow effect seen in entertainment venues and themed parties.

Can it be used in a standard lamp?

Yes, provided the lamp holder is rated for 75W and uses an E27 fitting. The bulb operates on standard 230V mains without needing a ballast. Note that the black glass envelope means the bulb will not provide visible room lighting—it is solely for UV effect.

How large a room will it cover?

UV coverage depends on ambient light and the fluorescent materials present. In a darkened room with good UV-reactive decoration, a single 75W black light bulb typically covers 20-30m². For larger venues or stronger effects, multiple bulbs are recommended.
