Description

The QTX 6.3mm right-angle stereo jack adaptor converts a standard 6.3mm stereo jack plug into a 6.3mm stereo jack socket, with the plug connector positioned at 90 degrees to the body. The right-angle configuration reduces cable strain where a straight connector would protrude too far from the jack, particularly in pedalboards, rack-mounted equipment and amplifier back panels where space behind the connector is limited.

Designed for both balanced mono and unbalanced stereo audio signals, the adaptor suits instrument cables, headphone extensions, and line-level audio connections in studios, live stages and home audio setups. The right-angle plug positions the cable run parallel to the mounting surface rather than perpendicular, which helps in tight rack enclosures and behind furniture where a straight plug would force the cable into a sharp bend or prevent the equipment from sitting flush against a wall.

The adaptor body is metal with a black finish, providing mechanical durability under repeated connection and disconnection cycles. The jack socket accepts standard 6.3mm stereo plugs and maintains contact integrity across the tip, ring and sleeve conductors. At approximately 35mm in length from the base of the right-angle plug to the end of the socket housing, the adaptor adds minimal bulk to a signal chain while solving clearance and strain-relief problems in constrained installations.

Frequently Asked

Is this adaptor suitable for balanced audio?

Yes. The three-conductor design (tip, ring, sleeve) supports both balanced mono and unbalanced stereo signals. For balanced mono, the tip and ring carry the positive and negative signal phases, with the sleeve as ground.

What's the advantage of the right-angle connector?

The right-angle plug positions the cable run parallel to the mounting surface, reducing the projection depth behind the connector. This is useful in pedalboards where space between pedals is tight, in rack units where cables need to route neatly, and in amplifier setups where a straight plug would force the cable into a sharp bend or prevent the amp from sitting flush against a wall.

Will this work with instrument cables?

Yes. Standard 6.3mm instrument cables with stereo or mono plugs will fit the socket end. However, note that most instrument cables are mono (two-conductor), so only the tip and sleeve contacts will be used in that case.

Can it be used with headphones?

Yes. If you have headphones with a 6.3mm stereo plug and need to extend the cable or change the angle of connection, this adaptor will work. The stereo signal (left channel on tip, right channel on ring, common ground on sleeve) passes through all three conductors.
