Description

The QTX adaptor converts a 3.5mm stereo jack plug to a 6.3mm stereo socket, allowing devices with a mini jack output to connect to equipment fitted with quarter-inch inputs. The adaptor carries three contacts—left channel, right channel, and common ground—making it suitable for stereo headphones, unbalanced stereo line signals, and balanced mono connections.

Designed for studio monitoring, DJ headphones, home audio systems and stage playback, the adaptor allows 3.5mm headphones to plug into mixing desks, audio interfaces, studio headphone amplifiers and professional PA equipment that use 6.3mm headphone outputs. It can also be used to connect portable audio devices with 3.5mm outputs to mixers, amplifiers or recording equipment with 6.3mm line inputs.

The body is compact at approximately 40mm in length, with a metal 3.5mm plug and a 6.3mm socket housing. The metal construction provides shielding against interference and maintains contact integrity under repeated insertion cycles. The adaptor adds minimal bulk to the cable connection, making it practical for touring kits, desktop monitoring setups and installed audio systems where the adaptor remains semi-permanently fitted.

Frequently Asked

Will this work with stereo headphones?

Yes. The adaptor carries stereo signals, so headphones with a 3.5mm plug will work in full stereo when plugged into a 6.3mm headphone output via this adaptor.

Can it be used for balanced mono signals?

Yes. The three-contact configuration supports balanced mono signals where tip and ring carry the positive and negative phases of a balanced signal, with the sleeve as ground.

Does it carry microphone or line level signals?

The adaptor is passive and does not alter signal level or impedance. It will pass whatever signal is present on the plug side to the socket side, whether that is headphone level, line level or mic level. It does not provide phantom power.

Is the body metal or plastic?

The plug and socket housings are metal, providing shielding and durability. The body may include a plastic grip section for handling during insertion and removal.
