Description

The QTX 3.5mm stereo jack to dual RCA phono socket adaptor converts a single 3.5mm stereo jack plug into two separate RCA phono sockets, splitting the left and right channels of a stereo signal into discrete outputs. The 3.5mm plug fits standard headphone outputs on laptops, tablets, MP3 players and portable audio devices, while the two RCA sockets accept standard phono plugs from amplifier, mixer and active speaker cables.

Designed for connecting consumer audio sources to professional or domestic hi-fi equipment, the adaptor allows a smartphone or laptop headphone output to feed a stereo amplifier, powered speakers or a DJ mixer without needing a dedicated cable. The compact housing sits close to the source device, minimising strain on the 3.5mm socket, and the metal phono socket bodies provide a secure grip on standard phono plugs.

The adaptor passes analogue stereo signals only and does not amplify or convert the signal — output volume and quality depend on the source device's headphone output. The black moulded housing measures approximately 40mm in length including the 3.5mm plug, with the two RCA sockets positioned side by side on the opposite end. No external power is required.

Frequently Asked

Which RCA socket is left and which is right?

The RCA sockets follow standard colour coding where available, but check the adaptor body or the source device's manual to confirm channel assignment if critical. Most adaptors mark the sockets or colour-code them red (right) and white (left).

Can this be used to connect a turntable to a laptop?

No. This adaptor is an output adaptor, designed to send a signal from a 3.5mm headphone output to RCA inputs. It does not work in reverse, and turntables require a phono preamp stage before connecting to a laptop.

Does it affect sound quality?

The adaptor is a passive connector with no active components, so it does not degrade the signal beyond the inherent limitations of the 3.5mm headphone output on the source device. Sound quality depends on the source's DAC and headphone amplifier circuit.

Is it compatible with balanced or digital signals?

No. The adaptor is designed for analogue stereo signals only. It will not pass digital audio or balanced signals.
