Description

The QTX 15cm glass disco ball is a traditional mirror ball built from hundreds of 10mm square glass facets mounted onto a rigid foam core, topped with a metal hanging ring. Each facet catches and scatters light from a pin spot or overhead source, sending moving points of reflected light across walls and ceilings when the ball is rotated.

Designed for home parties, small venues, bars and event spaces, the 15cm diameter suits rooms up to 20-25m² where a larger mirror ball would dominate. The ball pairs with standard mirror ball motors (sold separately) that clip onto the top ring and rotate the ball at 1-3 RPM, creating the classic disco effect. Without a motor the ball can be suspended as static decoration, catching ambient light from windows or overhead fittings.

The 540g weight gives the ball enough mass to rotate smoothly on a motor without wobbling, while remaining light enough to hang from plasterboard ceilings using a spring toggle or cavity anchor rated to 2kg minimum. The 10mm facet size strikes a balance between fine reflections and durability — smaller facets create more individual points of light but are more fragile during handling and storage.

Frequently Asked

Does this come with a motor?

No. The mirror ball is sold separately from the motor. Standard mirror ball motors with a top-clip attachment fit the metal ring on this ball. Search for "mirror ball motor" or "disco ball motor" at Niori to find compatible options.

What lighting is needed to create the disco effect?

A pin spot — a narrow-beam spotlight positioned to hit the ball from one side — creates the strongest effect. LED pin spots rated 3W-10W work well. General room lighting will also reflect off the facets, but without a concentrated beam the scattered reflections are less visible.

Can it be used outdoors?

The ball is not IP-rated and has no weather protection. The foam core absorbs moisture if exposed to rain, and the glass facets are vulnerable to temperature shock. Suitable for covered outdoor areas (marquees, gazebos) but not exposed outdoor hanging.

How is it hung from the ceiling?

The top metal ring accepts a swivel hook, S-hook or motor clip. For plasterboard ceilings use a spring toggle or cavity anchor rated to at least 2kg. For solid ceilings a standard screw eye or hook suffices. If using a motor, follow the motor manufacturer's installation guidance for the combined weight.
