Description

A candle-shaped LED lamp with the small E14 screw cap, supplied two to a pack. The C35 body is the familiar tapered candle profile, finished in white, and it draws 5W. Light comes off it all round rather than being thrown in one direction, so you get a soft, even glow in fittings that leave their bulbs on show. It is non-dimmable, so it wants a plain switch rather than a dimmer circuit.

We reach for these in chandeliers, wall lights, bedside lamps and small hallway fittings, the sort with several little holders where the shape of the bulb is part of the look. The tone is warm white at 3000K, closer to the yellow of an old candle lamp than to anything crisp, which suits sitting rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms in the evening. Having the spare in the pack means a mismatched holder can be put right straight away, and if you are working through a multi-arm fitting the colour of the light stays consistent across the bulbs you change.

The white finish runs across the whole body, and the slim profile sits happily inside a small clip-on shade. Keep it to dry indoor rooms on a normal domestic supply; it is not meant for outdoor use or for splash zones in a bathroom. Dust dulls output more than people expect, so give the cooled bulb a wipe with a dry cloth now and then, and keep water and cleaning sprays away from it. It carries a three year warranty.
