Description
The Sangamo Powersaver Plus is a boost controller that provides timed manual override of heating or hot water systems, with three preset durations: 30 minutes, 1 hour, and 2 hours. A single press of the control button activates a timed boost period, after which the system reverts to its programmed schedule. Three LED indicators on the front panel show which boost duration is active, with a green LED confirming the selected period.
Designed for use alongside existing heating controllers and thermostats, the boost controller allows temporary override without reprogramming a main timer. This suits households where heating or hot water is needed outside the standard schedule — early mornings, unexpected cold snaps, or guests staying over. The 16A switch rating at 240V AC handles typical domestic immersion heaters, underfloor heating zones, and hydronic heating pumps.
The controller mounts in a standard single-gang position, either surface-mounted using the included back box or flush-mounted into a 25mm minimum depth back box. The black front plate measures 90mm x 90mm and sits 62mm deep when surface-mounted. The control button is recessed below the faceplate to reduce accidental activation, and the LEDs are visible in daylight without being intrusive at night.

Frequently Asked
How is the boost controller wired into the heating system?
The Powersaver Plus is wired in series between the main heating controller output and the load being controlled, such as an immersion heater or heating zone valve. When a boost is activated, the controller closes the circuit for the selected duration regardless of the main timer's programme. See the installation manual for full wiring diagrams.
What happens when the boost period ends?
When the selected boost period (30 minutes, 1 hour, or 2 hours) expires, the controller automatically switches off and control returns to the main heating programmer. The system then follows its normal programmed schedule.
Can it be used for both heating and hot water?
Yes, provided the load is within the 16A rating at 240V AC. Typical applications include immersion heaters, underfloor heating zone valves, and heating circulation pumps. Multiple controllers can be installed to provide separate boost functions for heating and hot water circuits.
Does the surface-mount box come with the controller?
Yes. A single-gang surface-mount back box is included for surface installation. For flush mounting, a standard 25mm minimum depth single-gang back box is required and must be purchased separately.
