Description

This white LED candle has the look of a plain pillar candle: a smooth paraffin outside, a shallow well in the top and a small flame-shaped tip set at its centre. It is 7.5cm across and 10cm tall, a short, compact pillar that fits neatly in the hand and weighs 0.14KG. It runs on two AA batteries, which are not included, so it needs no plug or lead. It also turns off automatically after 8 hours, so the light ends by itself on the evenings you forget.

At 10cm tall it is a low candle, made for spots where a taller pillar would block a view or crowd a shelf: the middle of a dining table, a bedside table, a windowsill, a mantelpiece or a bookcase in a living room. With no cable, it can go wherever it looks right rather than wherever a socket happens to be. It suits anyone who loves candlelight through the darker months and wants a candle that stays the same height from the first evening to the last. Set in front of taller pillars, it gives a group the low front row that makes the arrangement look deliberate.

It is made from paraffin, polystyrene, copper, polypropylene, steel and silicone, with a paraffin finish, so the outside has the soft, matt surface of a wax candle rather than the sheen of plastic. The maker's assembly instructions come as a PDF download.
