Polana 9 Light Semi-Flush Ceiling Light - Polished Chrome

The Polana is a 9-light semi-flush ceiling light built on a circular polished chrome frame with nine optical prism glass shades arranged symmetrically around a central mounting plate. Each shade is faceted glass that refracts light into rainbow colour shifts across the ceiling and walls when the G4 bulbs are lit. The 560mm diameter frame sits 270mm from the ceiling, making it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights between 2.4m and 3m.

Designed for living rooms, dining rooms and entrance halls where a centrepiece ceiling light is needed without the drop of a full pendant, the Polana fits standard UK ceiling roses and includes nine G4 halogen bulbs in the box. The semi-flush configuration means the light projects both upwards onto the ceiling and outwards into the room, providing general ambient illumination rather than focused task light. The polished chrome frame reflects the prism glass and multiplies the sparkle effect across the room.

The optical prism glass shades are solid faceted glass rather than thin crystal, giving each shade weight and durability. When the light is off the chrome and clear glass read as a clean metallic and glass sculpture; when lit the prisms catch and split the halogen light into colour bands similar to those produced by cut crystal chandeliers. The fixture weighs 4kg and requires secure fixing to a ceiling joist or reinforced ceiling rose. The light is dimmable using a trailing-edge dimmer compatible with G4 halogen loads.

Are bulbs included?

Yes. The Polana includes nine G4 halogen bulbs (20W each) in the box. The G4 socket is a bi-pin fitting common in decorative lighting where compact light sources are needed. Replacement bulbs are widely available.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

The semi-flush configuration gives 270mm projection from the ceiling, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. For rooms under 2.4m, consider a flush-mount alternative with less drop to avoid the fitting feeling too close to head height.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes. The fixture is dimmable when paired with a trailing-edge dimmer designed for halogen loads. Standard leading-edge dimmers may cause flickering or buzzing with G4 halogen bulbs. Confirm your dimmer is rated for the total 180W load before installation.

How is the glass cleaned?

The optical prism glass shades can be wiped with a soft microfibre cloth when the power is off and the bulbs have cooled. For heavier dust buildup, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water works, but avoid soaking the chrome frame or leaving moisture on the electrical components inside the canopy.
