Description

The Photonix is a 90mm diameter pendant light with a coffee brown powder-coated aluminium frame and a matt white plastic diffuser. The compact globe shape houses a single E27 bulb (sold separately) behind the diffuser, which spreads light evenly in all directions. The IP44 rating allows the pendant to be used in bathroom zones 2 and 3, as well as kitchens and other moisture-prone areas.

Designed for bathrooms, cloakrooms, small kitchens and bedroom bedside positions, the Photonix works best where a contained, functional pendant is needed without dominating the ceiling. The 930mm cable length allows the pendant to be fitted close to the ceiling or dropped slightly depending on ceiling height and room proportions. The brown aluminium frame provides a warmer alternative to chrome or white in contemporary bathrooms and pairs comfortably with natural woods, stone tiles and earthy colour schemes.

The extruded and turned aluminium construction gives the frame a solid 300g presence despite the compact 90mm diameter. The matt white diffuser hides the bulb from direct view and softens the light output, reducing glare when the pendant is fitted above eye level. The frame finish is a powder-coated coffee brown that sits between lighter tan shades and darker chocolate browns, making it adaptable to both warm-toned and neutral interiors. The pendant is dimmable when paired with a compatible dimmer and E27 dimmable bulb.

Ideal Lux manufactures the Photonix in Italy and backs it with a 5-year warranty. The modular design allows the pendant to be combined with other Photonix units in different finishes (white, black, grey, copper) if a grouped installation is needed, though each pendant is sold individually.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

Yes. The IP44 rating makes the Photonix suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3 (outside the shower enclosure and away from direct water jets). It is not rated for use inside a shower enclosure (zone 1) or directly above a bath (zone 0).

What bulb does it take?

The Photonix takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for bathroom or bedroom use.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, when paired with a compatible dimmer switch and a dimmable E27 bulb. The pendant itself has no built-in dimming function — dimming is controlled by the switch and bulb combination.
