Description
Phineas is a sitting bird door stop, sewn from patterned fabric and finished with real character. The head is worked in bright red felt with a pale beak and small black bead eyes, and the body wears a floral print jacket over a pink gingham waistcoat complete with tiny buttons and a chest pocket. A rust-orange scarf is knotted at the neck, and a full grey feathery tail sweeps out behind. He stands roughly 24cm tall, with a base measuring around 13cm by 12cm, which gives him enough weight and footprint to sit steadily against a door.
He is made to hold an internal door open, and he does that job while reading as an ornament rather than a piece of hardware. Set him at the foot of a bedroom or living room door, in a hallway, or beside a study door where you want the air to move through. His autumnal palette of red, rust, green and warm pink sits happily against wood floors and painted walls, and he keeps company with our matching squirrel door stop if you want a pair holding two doors in the same room.
The cover is a polyester fabric, which holds its printed colour well and shrugs off everyday knocks and light handling. Inside, a weighted fill of sand keeps him grounded, with a little bamboo and plastic making up the rest of the build. The felt head, stitched beak and bead eyes are hand-finished, so each one carries small differences. Because of the sand weighting he is a floor-standing piece to be lifted and placed rather than laundered, and a gentle brush down of the fabric and tail keeps him looking his best. He is a warm, characterful choice for anyone who likes a bit of countryside charm working quietly in the home.

Frequently Asked
What keeps this door stop in place?
The body is weighted with sand, which gives it enough heft to hold an internal door open and to sit steadily on the floor without sliding.
How tall is Phineas and will he suit a standard door?
He stands roughly 24cm tall on a base of about 13cm by 12cm, which sits comfortably at the foot of a normal internal door.
What is the cover made from?
The outer is a polyester fabric, which holds its printed floral and gingham pattern well and copes with the everyday knocks a door stop takes.
Can I wash it?
Because it is filled with sand it is not meant to be laundered. Lift and place it rather than immersing it, and brush the fabric and tail down gently to keep it tidy.
Does it come with a matching design?
Phineas is shown beside a larger squirrel door stop in the same range, so the two can be bought together to hold doors in one room.
Is each one identical?
The felt head, stitched beak and bead eyes are hand-finished, so small differences from one piece to the next are normal and part of the charm.
