Description

A D cell is the largest of the common cylindrical battery sizes, and this pack holds two of them. Each one is a 1.5V alkaline cell carrying the codes LR20 and Mono, which are the markings you are most likely to find stamped inside a battery compartment or printed in an appliance manual. Both cells sit on a single blister card and stay sealed until you need them, and the front of the pack is marked Long lasting power.

D cells are chosen where a device needs to run for a long stretch rather than where it needs to be small: large rubber torches, camping and emergency lanterns, mains free radios, loud wall clocks, doorbell chimes and bigger children's toys. A D cell holds considerably more charge than an AA of the same chemistry and voltage, which is why manufacturers specify it for steady drain and for equipment that sits in a cupboard, a shed or a car boot between uses. Check the markings in the compartment before you order, because D and C are easy to confuse by name alone; a C cell is noticeably shorter and narrower.

Alkaline cells of this type are single use and must never be put on a charger; if you want cells you can top up again, a rechargeable NiMH D cell is a different product with a 1.2V nominal output.
