Description

This small marble tray is made entirely of polished stone and laid out as a checkerboard of pink squares alternating with paler ones. Its outline is soft and organic, dipping inwards along one long side, and every edge is rounded so it feels smooth in the hand. It measures 22cm long, 14.5cm wide and 2.5cm tall, a compact size that sits neatly on a bedside table, a shelf or the top of a stack of books. At 1.5KG it has real weight, so it stays firmly in place and does not slide when something is put on it.

Because it is food safe, it can carry a few chocolates, a wedge of cheese or a little dish of olives to the table, and marble stays cool to the touch, which suits butter and soft cheese. Away from the kitchen it makes a tidy catchall on a coffee table, a resting place for rings and earrings on a dressing table, or a spot by the front door for keys and loose change.
