Description

The Pesvette downlight comes as a set of three round recessed spotlights in a black finish, each 9cm across with a plastic body. Each one takes a GU10 bulb of up to 5W. The bulbs are not included, so you choose the colour of light and the brightness that suit the room. The inner ring tilts, so you can angle each beam towards a picture, a worktop or a favourite corner instead of aiming it straight at the floor. They are rated IP20, which settles where they belong: indoors, in dry rooms, away from steam and splashing water.

Black downlights suit a pale ceiling well, where each trim reads as a crisp, deliberate circle rather than disappearing altogether. They work in living rooms, hallways, bedrooms, studies and dining rooms, anywhere a ceiling has room for a small recessed fitting and you want light placed exactly where it is needed. Because the heads tilt, a set of three is a neat way to wash light across artwork, pick out shelving or brighten a dark stretch of hallway. They have no switch of their own and are switched at the wall, so there is no pull cord or extra control.

Each downlight needs a cut-out 6.8cm across and only 2.5cm of depth behind the ceiling, which makes them a good choice where the ceiling void is shallow. Sprung clips hold each one against the ceiling once it is pushed into place, and the plastic bodies keep the whole set light, at 0.28KG packed. They run from a 220-240V mains supply and are installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. Remember to order three GU10 bulbs of 5W or less alongside them.
