Description

The Penny is a 1397mm tripod floor lamp with a burnished brass frame and a white linen shade measuring 470mm diameter. Three slender brass legs converge at a central brass collar, creating a 600mm-square footprint that provides stability on bare floors and short-pile rugs. A single E27 lampholder sits inside the linen shade, accepting bulbs up to 60W (sold separately).

Designed for living rooms, reading corners and bedside positions, the Penny provides soft ambient light filtered through the linen shade. The tripod configuration allows the lamp to stand close to a sofa or armchair without needing a side table, making it useful in rooms where floor space is limited. The 1397mm height positions the shade at approximately 1.2m from the floor, directing light downwards and outwards rather than upwards.

The burnished brass finish sits between polished brass and antique brass in tone, offering warmth without the high-gloss reflections of polished metal or the darker patina of antique finishes. The white linen shade softens the light output and reduces glare, making the lamp suitable for evening use in living spaces. Is the lamp stable on rugs?

The 600mm-square tripod footprint provides stability on most bare floors and short-pile rugs. On thick or shag rugs the lamp may benefit from being placed where at least two of the three legs sit on bare floor or firmer backing.

Can the shade be removed for cleaning?

Yes. The linen shade typically lifts off the frame for cleaning. Linen shades can be vacuumed gently with a soft brush attachment or wiped with a barely-damp microfibre cloth. Avoid soaking the fabric or using household sprays.
