Description
The Paula is a low, wide stoneware bowl, 16cm across and 5cm tall, with room for 525ml. That capacity puts it squarely in cereal and soup bowl territory: deep enough for a generous helping of porridge or broth, yet open enough that a spoon reaches the base without effort. It is made of 100% stoneware and finished in a blue reactive glaze, which gathers and breaks over the curved walls so the surface is never flat in tone. Fine speckles run through the whole piece, and a shallow ring marks the centre of the inside.
Use it every day as a breakfast bowl for cereal, yoghurt or porridge, then again at supper for soup, a noodle broth or a side salad. Its wide, low shape also makes it a good serving dish in the middle of the table, holding olives, nuts or a dip for everyone to share. It is a sensible pick for a first home or a family kitchen, and the varied blue glaze sits happily beside plain tableware and natural wood.
Stoneware is dense and hardwearing, which makes it a natural fit for a bowl in daily use. The maker rates this one for the dishwasher, the microwave and the oven, so leftovers can be reheated in it and it can go straight from oven to table. It weighs 0.476KG. A reactive glaze responds to the heat of the kiln, so the flecks and pools of colour are never quite the same twice and each bowl has its own character. In our studio photographs the glaze reads darker and more muted than in the room shots. The styling props shown are not included. For a layered look, set it on a wide plate over a linen napkin, or stand a few side by side on an open shelf where the glaze catches the light.

Frequently Asked
What size is the bowl?
It is 16cm across and 5cm tall and holds 525ml, a good size for cereal, porridge, soup or a side salad.
What material is it?
It is made of 100% stoneware and finished in a blue reactive glaze, so the tone varies across the surface.
Can it go in the dishwasher and microwave?
Yes. The maker rates it for the dishwasher and the microwave, so washing up and reheating leftovers are both easy.
Can I use it in the oven?
Yes, the maker rates it for oven use, so it can go straight from the oven to the table for a baked pudding or gratin.
Will my bowl look exactly like the photographs?
Not exactly. A reactive glaze varies with each firing, so the flecks and pools of blue differ a little from bowl to bowl.
How heavy is it?
It weighs 0.476KG. You receive one bowl, and stoneware gives it a dense, solid feel in the hand.
