Description

The Panasonic CR123 is a 3V lithium battery designed for high-drain devices including digital cameras, film cameras with motorised film advance, LED torches, security sensors and door entry systems. Part of Panasonic's Photo Power range, the CR123 delivers high energy density in a compact cylindrical cell measuring 17mm diameter by 34.5mm length.

Lithium chemistry gives the CR123 a 10-year shelf life and stable output across a wide temperature range from -20°C to +65°C, making it suitable for outdoor cameras, vehicle-mounted dashcams and security equipment exposed to seasonal temperature swings. The low internal resistance supports rapid power draw during camera flash cycles and high-output torch bursts without voltage sag.

The CR123 format is also labelled as CR17345, DL123A and K123A depending on manufacturer. This Panasonic version is single-use (non-rechargeable) and comes as one cell in retail packaging. Typical applications include Fujifilm Instax cameras, Nikon film SLRs with auto-wind, SureFire and Streamlight torches, Ring doorbells, and motion-activated security lights.

Frequently Asked

Is the CR123 rechargeable?

No. This Panasonic CR123 is a single-use lithium cell and cannot be recharged. Rechargeable equivalents exist (usually labelled RCR123 or 16340) but operate at different voltages and may not be compatible with all devices designed for primary CR123 cells.

What devices use CR123 batteries?

CR123 cells are commonly used in digital cameras (including Fujifilm Instax models), film cameras with motorised advance, high-output LED torches, Ring video doorbells, security motion sensors, laser sights, and some medical devices. Check your device manual for compatibility.

How long does a CR123 last?

Service life depends on the device and usage pattern. In a low-drain security sensor the battery may last 2-3 years, while a high-drain camera flash or torch will deplete it in hours of active use. The shelf life is approximately 10 years when stored at room temperature.

Can I use this in extreme temperatures?

The CR123 operates across -20°C to +65°C, making it suitable for outdoor cameras, winter sports equipment and vehicle-mounted devices. Performance degrades at the temperature extremes but remains functional where alkaline cells would fail.
