Outdoor Up Down Wall Light - Black IP65 Dual GU10

This Knightsbridge outdoor up down wall light casts light in two directions from dual GU10 fittings housed inside a cylindrical black die-cast aluminium body. The upper and lower apertures direct light upward onto wall surfaces and downward onto paths or patios, creating both accent and task lighting from a single 166mm-high fitting. The IP65 rating provides full protection against dust ingress and water jets from any direction, making the light suitable for exposed positions on building facades, garden walls, driveways and entrances.

Designed for residential and light commercial outdoor installation, the light mounts on a 64mm-diameter circular backplate and projects 94mm from the wall when fitted. The dual GU10 sockets accept either LED or halogen bulbs up to 35W each (bulbs sold separately), allowing control over light output, colour temperature and energy consumption. The clear diffuser at each aperture provides unfiltered light projection rather than diffusion, making the fitting most effective where defined uplight and downlight beams are needed rather than soft ambient wash.

The die-cast aluminium construction withstands repeated thermal cycling and UV exposure without warping or colour fade. The black powder-coated finish hides surface marks and pairs with both modern minimalist facades and traditional brick or render. The cylindrical form gives a 360-degree identical profile, so the light maintains the same visual presence regardless of viewing angle. Class I electrical rating requires earth connection during installation.

What bulbs does it take?

The light takes two GU10 bulbs, one in the upper fitting and one in the lower. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED GU10s between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K for outdoor residential lighting, though halogen bulbs up to 35W per socket are also compatible.

Is it suitable for fully exposed outdoor positions?

Yes. The IP65 rating provides full protection against dust and water jets from any direction, making the light suitable for exposed facades, gates, driveways and garden walls without requiring shelter from eaves or canopies.

Can it be dimmed?

Dimming capability depends on the bulb choice. Dimmable GU10 LED bulbs paired with a compatible outdoor dimmer switch will allow dimming. Non-dimmable LED bulbs or standard halogen bulbs on a dimmer circuit may flicker or fail.

How is it wired?

The light is Class I, requiring live, neutral and earth connections to a mains supply. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with Part P Building Regulations for outdoor electrical work.
