Description
The Knightsbridge LANT1 is a traditional coach-style outdoor wall lantern with an integrated 8W LED producing 555 lumens at 4000K cool white. The entire structure — canopy, frame, and diffuser — is moulded from black polycarbonate, making it resistant to corrosion, impact and UV degradation. The IP54 rating confirms protection against dust ingress and water splashing from any direction, suitable for UK garden walls, porches, driveways and side passages.
Designed for permanent outdoor installation on rendered brick, timber cladding or stone walls, the lantern mounts on a single backplate with a 230mm projection from the wall face. The 375mm height and 177mm width give it enough presence for front-door surrounds on semi-detached and detached houses without overwhelming smaller cottage entrances. The opal polycarbonate diffuser spreads light in a 315° beam angle, providing functional illumination across doorways and down pathways rather than a narrow spotlight effect.
The polycarbonate construction requires minimal maintenance — no painting, no rust treatment, no glass replacement. The integrated LED is rated for 60,000 hours at L70B50 (the point at which 50% of a batch will have degraded to 70% of initial output), which translates to approximately 20 years of typical evening use. The 4000K colour temperature produces a neutral white light that matches modern security lighting and PIR floodlights, rather than the warmer 2700-3000K tones used in decorative indoor lighting. The lantern is not dimmable and runs on 230V 50Hz mains supply without requiring a driver box.

Frequently Asked
Is this suitable for use in bathrooms or wet outdoor areas?
The IP54 rating confirms protection against dust and water splashing from any direction, making it suitable for porches, garden walls, driveways and side passages exposed to UK weather. It is not rated for direct submersion or continuous heavy water jets, so it should not be positioned where water pools or where it will be hosed down regularly.
Can the LED be replaced when it fails?
The LED is integrated into the lantern housing and is not user-replaceable. The L70B50 rating of 60,000 hours suggests the LED will last approximately 20 years under typical evening use (3 hours per night). At end of life, the entire lantern assembly would need replacing.
What colour temperature is the light, and can it be changed?
The integrated LED runs at 4000K cool white, producing a neutral white light similar to modern security lighting. The colour temperature is fixed and cannot be adjusted. For warmer 2700-3000K lighting, a different model would be needed.
Does it require a separate driver or transformer?
No. The lantern runs directly on 230V 50Hz mains supply and does not require an external driver, transformer or control box. It is wired in the same way as a standard outdoor wall light.
