Description
The Knightsbridge LANT4 is an outdoor LED half wall lantern with an integrated PIR sensor, built around an 8W 4000K LED module inside a black polycarbonate housing. The sensor detects movement up to 8 metres away across a 90° angle, switching the light on automatically when someone approaches and off after a set delay. A manual override allows the light to be switched to permanent-on mode when continuous lighting is needed.
Designed for porch entrances, side passages, rear doors and garage approaches, the lantern mounts directly to external walls and fits standard UK outdoor lighting circuits. The IP54 rating provides protection against dust and water splashes from any direction, making the fitting suitable for positions under canopies, overhangs and exposed wall sections. The polycarbonate construction resists corrosion and impact damage in outdoor conditions.
The frosted opal diffuser spreads 440 lumens of cool white light across a 225° beam angle, providing functional visibility rather than decorative accent. The 362mm height and 175mm width suit standard door surrounds and wall sections without overwhelming the mounting surface. The Class II double-insulated construction means no earth connection is required during installation. The integrated LED is rated for 60,000 hours at L70B50, equating to approximately 20 years of typical outdoor sensor use.

Frequently Asked
What triggers the PIR sensor?
The PIR sensor detects movement from people, vehicles and animals within an 8-metre range across a 90° detection angle. Once triggered, the light switches on and remains lit for a preset delay period before switching off again. The delay duration can be adjusted on the sensor unit itself.
Can the light be left on permanently?
Yes. The manual override function allows the light to be switched to permanent-on mode, bypassing the PIR sensor. This is useful for occasions when continuous outdoor lighting is needed, such as garden gatherings or extended outdoor work.
Is it weatherproof?
The IP54 rating provides protection against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction. This suits most external wall positions, including those exposed to rain under normal UK weather conditions. The polycarbonate housing resists corrosion and UV degradation over time.
Does it require an earth connection?
No. The Class II double-insulated construction means the fitting does not require an earth connection during installation, simplifying wiring to outdoor circuits where earthing may be less straightforward.
