Description

The Knightsbridge BL5G is a surface-mount LED brick light in grey polycarbonate, designed for outdoor path, driveway and walkway lighting where a brick-light appearance is wanted without cutting into the wall. A switch on the rear of the unit toggles the colour temperature between warm white 3000K (495lm) and neutral white 4000K (530lm), allowing the output to be matched to the surrounding exterior lighting scheme.

The slim 32mm projection from the wall gives a low-profile finish on rendered walls, porch surrounds, boundary walls and garden steps. The IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and water jets from any direction, making the fitting suitable for fully exposed positions including coastal and high-wind locations. The 110° beam angle gives wide horizontal spread for path lighting rather than focused spot effects.

The fitting ships with three interchangeable front accessories: a horizontal grill (reducing glare and giving banded light output), a louvre (directing light downward), and a plain shade (diffused full-face output). These accessories clip onto the front of the housing without tools, allowing the light pattern to be changed depending on the application. The opal diffuser inside the housing ensures even light distribution regardless of which front accessory is fitted. The polycarbonate construction resists impact and UV degradation better than ABS or standard acrylic housings.

A retrofit recessed-mount kit is available separately for installations where a fully flush brick-light finish is required after the surface-mount unit has been tested in position. The 5W constant-current LED has an L70B50 rating of 60,000 hours, equivalent to approximately 16 years at 10 hours per night.

How do I change the colour temperature?

A switch on the rear of the unit toggles between 3000K warm white (495lm) and 4000K neutral white (530lm). The switch must be accessed before final installation, so decide which colour temperature suits your exterior scheme during the test fit.

What's the difference between the grill, louvre and shade accessories?

The grill creates horizontal bands of light and reduces direct glare. The louvre directs light downward onto paths or steps. The plain shade gives diffused full-face output with no directional control. All three clip onto the front of the housing without tools and can be swapped after installation.

Can this be recessed into the wall?

The BL5G is designed as a surface-mount fitting. A separate retrofit recessed-mount kit is available from Knightsbridge if you want to convert it to a fully flush brick-light installation after testing the position.

Is it suitable for coastal locations?

Yes. The IP65 rating and polycarbonate construction protect against salt spray, wind-driven rain and UV exposure. The fitting is Class II double-insulated, so it does not require an earth connection.
