Description
The Knightsbridge FL8ABK is an 8W LED security spotlight with an integrated 180° PIR motion sensor, delivering 600lm at 5000K through a prismatic diffuser in a compact IP55-rated black housing. The die-cast aluminium spotlight head tilts and rotates on a ball joint, allowing light to be directed across driveways, doorways, pathways and garden areas within a 10m detection radius.
Designed for residential and light commercial outdoor security, the unit mounts on a quick-installation backing plate that takes mains wiring, then the main body plugs into the plate without additional connections. The PIR sensor is adjustable for lux threshold (daylight override) and timer duration, allowing the light to stay on from a few seconds to several minutes after motion is detected. The 85° beam angle provides a wide wash of light rather than a focused spot, covering typical doorway and pathway widths in a single fixture.
The polycarbonate main body houses the PIR sensor and control circuitry, while the spotlight itself is die-cast aluminium with a black powder-coat finish. The IP55 rating protects against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction, making the fitting suitable for exposed walls under eaves, soffit mounting, or fully weather-exposed positions. The integrated SMD LED is rated for 60,000 hours at L70B50, which translates to approximately 20 years of typical security use before dropping to 70% of initial output.

Frequently Asked
What is the detection range and angle?
The PIR sensor has a 180° detection arc and a maximum range of 10m under ideal conditions. The sensor can detect motion across driveways, pathways and doorways within this radius. Detection distance reduces if the moving object is approaching the sensor head-on rather than crossing the detection zone.
Can the timer and daylight settings be adjusted?
Yes. The unit has adjustable lux and time settings accessible via controls on the main body. The lux setting determines whether the light operates in daylight (overriding the sensor) or only when ambient light is low. The timer controls how long the light stays on after motion is detected, ranging from a few seconds to several minutes.
Is the spotlight head adjustable?
Yes. The die-cast aluminium spotlight head rotates and tilts on a ball joint, allowing the 600lm beam to be directed up, down or to either side depending on what area needs coverage. The joint locks by friction once positioned.
What wiring is required for installation?
The unit runs on 230V 50Hz mains. The backing plate takes the mains feed and neutral, then the main body plugs into the plate. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671 wiring regulations.
