Orion LED Semi-Flush Ceiling Light 20W 3000K - Gold Leaf/Black

The Orion is a 400mm semi-flush ceiling light with a gold leaf interior surface and matt black outer shell, housing an integrated 20W LED that delivers 1400 lumens at 3000K warm white. The LED sits within the centre opening and directs light upwards into the gold leaf-lined dome, which reflects and diffuses the light back down through the wide 140° beam angle.

Designed for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3-2.6m where a full pendant drop would hang too low, the Orion sits just 122mm below the ceiling rose, making it suitable for modern flats, converted loft bedrooms, hallways and low-ceilinged living rooms. The semi-flush mount fixes directly to a standard UK ceiling rose with the wiring concealed inside the black ceiling cap. The gold leaf interior creates a warm ambient wash across the ceiling plane while the downward light spreads across the room below.

The gold leaf finish is applied by hand to the interior dome surface, so tonal variation and texture differ slightly between individual fittings depending on how the leaf settled during application. This gives each Orion a different character when lit, with some showing more mottled texture and others a smoother gold tone. The matt black exterior contrasts with the warm metallic interior, anchoring the fitting visually against white or pale ceilings. At 1.6kg the Orion mounts securely to plasterboard ceilings with a standard ceiling rose and appropriate fixings.

Is the Orion dimmable?

No. The integrated LED operates at full brightness when switched on. Dimmer compatibility is not supported with this model.

What ceiling height does it suit?

The 122mm projection from the ceiling makes the Orion suitable for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3m or above. It works particularly well in spaces where a pendant would hang too low, such as converted lofts, modern flats and low-ceilinged bedrooms.

Does the gold leaf vary between fittings?

Yes. The gold leaf interior is applied by hand, so the texture, mottling and tonal variation differ slightly between individual pieces. This is a characteristic of the hand-finishing process, not a defect.

How bright is 1400 lumens?

1400 lumens at 3000K warm white provides ambient lighting for a room of approximately 12-16m². For a larger living room or open-plan space, pairing two Orion fittings or supplementing with task lighting may be needed.
