Description
The ONTEC G is a 3W maintained emergency light built to keep escape routes visible when the mains supply fails. Running on 220-240V AC, it stays lit in normal use and switches to its battery output during a power loss, so the fitting works as part of everyday lighting as well as a safety device. Its 5000K daylight-white output marks doorways, corridors and stairwells clearly, and the compact 250 × 29 × 194 mm body keeps the surface-mounted housing low-profile against the structure. As an emergency led light it follows the same maintained format used across commercial buildings, and on US specifications this category is typically listed as an emergency exit fixture.
The ONTEC G suits indoor commercial and utility settings where a route must remain readable in an evacuation: office corridors, shop floors, plant rooms, stairwells and similar circulation spaces. Rather than lighting a room to a working level, it is positioned to mark the escape path, so coverage is judged by where it is sited along the route and at changes of direction rather than by floor area. Mounted on a ceiling or wall surface, it works well at the heights used for signage and door markers, giving a clear daylight-white reference point that guides occupants towards an exit during a fault.
The housing is moulded plastic in a white finish, rated IP20 for dry indoor positions only, so it should be kept clear of damp, bathrooms and any external location. Built-in auto-test cycles the battery and lamp automatically and reports the result, which removes the manual duration checks otherwise needed on a maintained system. The fitting mounts directly to a ceiling or wall surface with no recess required, and it draws 3W in normal operation. This sits within our wider Ontec emergency range, which offers further maintained and non-maintained options for larger schemes.

Frequently Asked
Is this a maintained or non-maintained emergency light?
The ONTEC G is a maintained fitting, which means it stays lit during normal mains operation and continues to run on its internal battery if the supply fails. This makes it suitable where the light is wanted as part of general lighting as well as for emergency duty. A non-maintained fitting, by contrast, only illuminates on mains failure.
What does the auto-test feature do?
The built-in auto-test runs the required functional and duration checks automatically and reports the outcome, so the battery and lamp are verified without manual intervention. This reduces the routine on-site testing a maintained emergency system would otherwise need. It helps keep the fitting compliant between scheduled inspections.
Can the ONTEC G be used outdoors or in a bathroom?
No. It carries an IP20 rating, which covers dry indoor use only, so it must be kept clear of outdoor positions, bathrooms, showers and any damp or sheltered-external location. Install it in dry interior spaces such as corridors, offices, stairwells and plant rooms.
How is the fitting mounted and how big is it?
The ONTEC G is surface mounted, fixing directly onto a ceiling or wall with no recess needed. The housing measures 250 × 29 × 194 mm and weighs 402 g, giving a slim profile suited to door and route marking. Its plastic body in a white finish blends with most interior surfaces.
