Oberture 4 Light Semi-Flush Ceiling Light - Brown Black Oxide

The Oberture is a 540mm diameter semi-flush ceiling light with four frosted glass bell shades suspended from a scrolled metal frame finished in brown black oxide. Each shade hangs from a curved arm that extends from a central ceiling plate, with the oxide finish showing visible texture and tonal variation that gives the metalwork a forged, hand-worked appearance. The four E14 bulb fittings sit inside the frosted glass shades, which diffuse light evenly downward and outward.

Designed for rooms with ceiling heights of 2.2-2.4m where a traditional chandelier would hang too low, the Oberture sits 260mm below the ceiling rose and works in hallways, dining rooms above circular tables, and living rooms with lower ceilings. The 540mm spread means it suits rooms of 12-18m² without overpowering smaller spaces or disappearing in larger ones. The semi-flush mount fits standard UK ceiling roses and the oxide metalwork pairs with oak, walnut and darker wood furniture common in traditional and transitional interiors.

The brown black oxide finish is a reactive metal treatment that creates surface patina and subtle colour shifts between reddish-brown and dark charcoal depending on how light hits it. The frosted glass shades soften the contrast and prevent glare when the light is viewed from below. What bulbs does the Oberture take?

The fitting takes four E14 small Edison screw bulbs, sold separately. We suggest pairing this with 4-6W warm white LED candle bulbs at 2700K for a soft traditional glow. The frosted glass works well with clear filament bulbs if a more decorative look is preferred.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, when fitted with dimmable E14 bulbs and connected to a compatible dimmer switch. Non-dimmable LED bulbs will not dim and may flicker if used with a dimmer.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 260mm drop from ceiling to base of shades works best in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.2m or above. In standard 2.4m ceiling rooms, the fitting sits at approximately 2.14m from floor to lowest point, well above head height.

How is the oxide finish maintained?

The brown black oxide is a reactive metal finish that develops natural patina over time. Wipe with a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. Avoid chemical cleaners or metal polishes, which can strip the oxide layer and alter the finish tone.
