Description

This is a plain upright cylinder in sand black, 12cm across and 80cm tall, with the light source built in and its driver already housed inside. The LED draws 7W and gives a warm white light, the softer end of white that flatters planting and paving rather than reading like a car park. It is not dimmable, so it simply switches on and off and comes up at full output every time. Sealed against rain and windblown dust, it is made to sit outdoors year round.

We reach for a bollard of this height where a route needs marking without glare in the eye: along a front path, down one side of a drive, through a gravel bed, or at the turn of a garden step. Repeated at even spacings, the effect stays calm rather than theatrical. It suits a modern house or a tidy back garden where a lantern on a post would look fussy. With the LED integrated there is nothing to relamp, which counts for a lot on the fittings you least want to be fiddling with in February.

The body wears a fine-textured sand black that hides rain marks and finger smudges far better than a gloss coat, and the fitting carries a three year warranty. For cleaning, once or twice a season brush the soil splash off the base and wipe the lens with a damp cloth so the light stays even; leave solvents and scouring pads alone, as both will dull the paint. We also stock the same bollard in rust brown for gardens where black reads too hard, and the two sit together happily along a longer run if you want the line to soften as it reaches the borders.
