The Mount Vernon Medium Outdoor Lantern is a wall-mounted light with a classic profile, finished in black with panels of clear seedy glass. The gently rippled glass catches the light and softens the glow, while the shaped frame gives it a traditional look that sits well against most exterior walls. It takes a single bulb and casts a warm, welcoming light across an entrance or path.

This lantern suits front doors, porches, garden walls and the sides of garages, and it works just as happily on a period property as on a newer home. With an IP44 rating it stands up to rain and splashes, so it can go anywhere sheltered outdoors. A pair either side of a door gives a balanced, symmetrical result, and a single fitting is enough to mark a side gate or back step. It is mains powered and rated Class I, so it needs an earthed connection.

The frame is built from aluminium in a black finish, paired with clear seedy glass, and it comes with a three year anti-corrosion guarantee. It uses one E27 bulb up to 60W, which is not included, so you can pick the brightness and colour temperature that suits the setting. The fitting is compatible with dimmable bulbs if you would like to soften the light. Since the bulb is chosen separately, the warmth or coolness of the light is entirely up to you. To care for it, switch off the power and let the fitting cool, then wipe the metal and glass with a soft, dry cloth.
