Description

The Morphos is a 90x120cm bas-relief wall painting built from textured EVA sheets and finished with earth-toned matte acrylic paint inside a lightweight black polystyrene frame. The composition layers intersecting circles and angular geometric segments in shallow relief, creating subtle shadow lines that shift with room light throughout the day.

Designed for minimalist, Japandi and wabi-sabi interiors, the Morphos can be mounted horizontally or vertically depending on the wall space and adjacent furniture. The 4.5cm depth projects far enough from the wall to cast a defined shadow edge without requiring deep clearance behind. The textured surface of the EVA base gives each painted segment a tactile quality distinct from flat canvas or smooth acrylic panels, so the piece reads as sculptural rather than purely graphic.

The earth-brown acrylic finish pairs with natural materials including oak, walnut, linen upholstery, stone worktops and terracotta accents. The black polystyrene frame weighs 3.49kg in total, light enough for standard picture hooks on plasterboard without needing structural fixings. Hand-sculpted elements in the EVA mean tonal variation and surface texture differ slightly between individual pieces.

Can the Morphos be hung vertically or horizontally?

Yes. The mounting points on the back allow the piece to be hung in either orientation. The geometric composition works visually in both positions, so choose based on the available wall space and surrounding furniture.

What wall fixings are needed?

At 3.49kg the Morphos can be supported on standard picture hooks rated for 5kg or above on most plasterboard walls. For masonry or brick walls use appropriate wall plugs and screws. The lightweight polystyrene frame does not require structural fixings.

How is the surface cleaned?

Dust gently with a soft dry brush or microfibre cloth. The textured EVA surface traps more dust than smooth canvas, so regular light dusting is recommended. Avoid water, sprays or chemical cleaners as these may damage the matte acrylic finish.

Does the colour vary between pieces?

The hand-sculpted EVA base and hand-applied acrylic finish mean slight tonal variation and texture differences occur between individual Morphos pieces. This is a feature of the production method, not a defect.
