Description
A slim upright tube in dark grey, with an opal diffuser that softens the light and spreads it up and down the wall. A PIR sensor sits in the body, so the light comes on when someone moves nearby and goes off again on its own. There is no switch on the tube; the sensor does that work for you. It takes an E27 lamp of up to 20W, and we would put a warm white LED in it for quick, quiet starting night after night.
At 218mm tall and 162mm from the wall, it is small enough for a porch, a side passage or the narrow strip beside a back door without crowding anything. It suits anyone who would rather not hunt for a switch with shopping in both hands: bin stores, garden gates, garage sides, the steps down to a basement flat. The housing is sealed against dust and splashing water, so it copes with driving rain and with a hosed-down patio nearby. It is one we suggest where a lantern would look too fussy for the wall it sits on.
Construction is polycarbonate throughout, chosen because it does not corrode; salt air and damp winters leave it alone where a lesser fitting would start to bloom. The dark grey reads almost black against brick and holds its colour in strong sun. Keep it looking right by wiping the tube and the diffuser with a damp cloth each spring, once winter grime has settled on it, then drying it off. It carries a two year warranty. We stock the same tube in dark brown, and there is a globe shape in the range if you prefer something rounder. Lamps are not included.

Frequently Asked
How does the sensor work?
A PIR sensor in the body detects movement close by and brings the lamp on, then switches it off again once things are still. There is no separate wall switch on the fitting.
What lamp does it take?
One E27 lamp up to 20W. LED lamps of any shape that fits the tube are the sensible choice, and lamps are supplied separately.
How much room does it need?
It is 90mm wide, 218mm tall and stands 162mm out from the wall, with the opal shade measuring 80mm across and 150mm tall.
Is it suitable for an exposed wall?
Yes. It is rated IP54, so dust and splashing water are kept out, and the polycarbonate body is corrosion resistant for coastal and damp locations.
Can the light be dimmed?
Dimming is possible only with dimmable lamps and a suitable dimmer, neither of which is included, and it is not usually wanted on a sensor fitting.
How do I clean it?
Cut the power, let the lamp cool, then wipe the tube and diffuser with a damp cloth and dry it. Avoid solvents, which can dull polycarbonate.
