Description

Milo sets a narrow clear tube against a dark brown back body, with a PIR sensor tucked below so the light wakes as someone comes up the path. At 90mm across it reads as a tidy vertical marker rather than a lantern, and the clear diffuser lets the lamp inside show through. There is no switch on the fitting itself; the sensor does the deciding, and a dimmable lamp on a dimmer will let you set the level. It takes an E27 lamp up to 20W, and we would reach for a warm white LED here so it strikes quickly on cold nights.

Front doors, back steps, a side passage, a garage flank or the wall of a shed all suit it, and it is sealed against rain and blown dust so sheltered and open walls are both fair game. Projecting 162mm, it stays close to the brickwork and out of the way of shoulders and wheelbarrows. It is the sort of light we suggest for people who want the path lit when they need it rather than a porch lamp burning through to morning, and the sensor makes it useful where hands are full of shopping or keys.

The body and diffuser are polycarbonate, corrosion resistant, which is why we are happy to point it at coastal and damp garden walls where painted metal tends to bloom and pit. To clean, wait for a dull day, wipe the tube with a soft cloth and warm water with a little washing up liquid, then dry it off; keep solvents, wire wool and cream cleaners away, as they scratch and haze plastic quickly. It carries a two year warranty. We also stock the same tubular shape in dark grey with an opal diffuser, and a rounded globe version if you prefer a softer outline. Lamps are not included.
