Micha Aluminium Tray - Brass

This oval tray is made of flowers, joined petal to petal into an open lattice so the surface underneath shows through the gaps. Each flower has a small raised centre, and they come in several sizes, which keeps the pattern lively rather than regimented. It is 100% aluminium with a brass colour, the plated finish sitting deeper in the hollows and catching the light along the raised edges of the petals. At 43.5cm long, 25cm wide and 4.5cm tall it is a generous size, long enough to gather several pieces together, yet it weighs just 0.88KG, so it is easy to lift and move.

We think of it as a decorative tray first: the flowers hold the eye even when it is empty. On a console table in the hall or living room it gathers a small vase, a pair of candle holders or a few ceramic pieces into one tidy group, and laid along a sideboard or a coffee table it works as a centrepiece in its own right. Because the gaps between the flowers are open, it suits objects with a base wider than the openings; the smallest jewellery is better kept in a lidded box. It sits happily in a warm room with wooden furniture and layered textiles, and it makes a thoughtful housewarming gift for someone who likes botanical detail.

The tray is aluminium throughout, a light metal that does not rust, and the brass colour comes from a plated finish rather than solid brass, which is why it weighs so little for its size. Small feet lift the flowered lattice clear of the furniture, so it sits a little proud of the surface rather than flat against it. For styling, put it where daylight or a lamp falls across it so the raised petals catch the light, and keep to two or three objects so the flowers still show between them.

What material is the tray?

It is 100% aluminium with a plated finish that gives it a brass colour, so it is not solid brass and weighs only 0.88KG.

How big is the tray?

It is 43.5cm long, 25cm wide and 4.5cm tall, an oval long enough to group several decorative pieces on a console, sideboard or coffee table.

Does the tray have a solid base?

No. The whole tray is an open lattice of joined flowers, so the surface underneath shows through and very small loose items could slip through the gaps.

Does the tray stand on feet?

Yes. Small feet lift the flowered lattice clear of the furniture, so the tray sits a little proud of the surface rather than lying flat.

What can I display on the tray?

It suits objects with a base wider than its openings, such as a small vase, a pair of candle holders or a few ceramic pieces grouped together.
