Metacrilato Acrylic Downlight 80mm Cut-Out 7W 4000K - Matt White

This is a small round recess fitting with a plain matt white bezel and a shallow body, made to sit almost flat against the ceiling line once the aperture is cut. The LED sits behind a diffusing face rather than a visible lamp, so the light reads as a soft disc rather than a bright point, and the driver comes with it. Output is a crisp neutral white at 4000K, drawing 7W, and it is switched rather than dimmed. We keep it as one of our simplest working downlights, the sort you buy several of and stop thinking about.

It earns its place in kitchens, utility rooms, hallways, shower rooms and cloakrooms, where the body is sealed against dust and splashing water. Because the face is white and unfussy, a run of them across a ceiling stays quiet instead of drawing the eye, which suits open-plan spaces and narrow corridors alike. We would reach for this where a general wash of light is wanted over a worktop, a landing or a family bathroom, and where a deep bezel or a chrome ring would look heavy. The cut-out is a common 80mm, so it slots neatly into a lighting layout drawn around standard apertures.

The frame is finished in a flat white that takes daylight without glare and reads cleanly against white or off-white plaster. Keep it looking new by switching off at the wall, letting the face lose its heat, then passing a dry microfibre cloth across the bezel; steer clear of sprays and abrasive creams, which will dull the matt surface. It carries a three year warranty. It is designed for an 80mm round cut-out. The visible bezel measures 92mm across, so it covers the aperture edge with a small margin.

The body stands 38mm tall, which makes it one of the shallower round downlights we stock.

Can I dim it?

No. This version is non-dimmable and should be run on a standard on/off switch.

What colour is the light?

A neutral 4000K white, described as cool white. It is a clean, slightly crisp tone that suits kitchens and bathrooms; the 3000K version in the range gives a warmer light.

Is a driver supplied?

Yes, the driver is included with the fitting, and the LED is integrated at 7W.

How long should the LED last?

It is rated at an average life of 20,000 hours, and it carries a three year warranty.
