Description

A small round recessed light with a matt white face and a plain flush rim, made to sit quietly in a ceiling rather than draw the eye. It drops into an 80mm cut-out, and the integrated LED runs at 7W with a warm 3000K colour and a wide spread, so light falls evenly rather than in hard pools. The driver is supplied with it. There is no dimming: it works as a straightforward on and off fitting, which keeps the wiring simple and the light output consistent every time it is switched.

We reach for fittings like this where a room wants even background light and nothing hanging down: kitchen ceilings, hallways, landings and utility rooms. It is sealed against splashes and dust as well, so it suits a bathroom or a shower room where a plainer face is welcome. Run in a line or a loose grid, it gives steady light for cooking, washing and moving about at night, and the small face keeps a ceiling looking calm. We would choose it in a low room, where a pendant would only be in the way.

The face is matt rather than glossy, and white lets it read as part of the ceiling once the paint is around it. To clean, switch it off first and wipe the rim with a barely damp cloth, then dry it; solvents and cream cleaners will dull a matt white finish, so leave them in the cupboard. The LED is integral, so there is no lamp to swap out over its life. It carries a three year warranty.
