Description

Our Mercury Soldering Flux comes in a 30g tin, ready for use whenever you need cleaner, more reliable solder joints. Flux does the quiet work behind good soldering: it cleans the metal surfaces as you heat them and helps the molten solder flow evenly across the joint. Without it, you tend to get patchy results and connections that fail sooner than they should.

The main job of this flux is to prevent dry joints and oxidisation during soldering. When metal heats up it oxidises quickly, and that thin layer of oxide stops solder bonding properly. Working a little flux onto the joint clears that away and gives the solder something clean to grip. The result is a solid, shiny joint rather than a dull, crumbly one that lets you down later.

The tin holds 30g and measures 15 x 40mm in diameter, with a total weight of 50g including the container. It sits neatly in a toolbox or on a bench, and a small amount goes a long way, so a single tin lasts through plenty of jobs. It suits electronics work, plumbing repairs and general hobby soldering. Apply a thin coat to the surfaces before you bring the iron in, and keep the lid on between uses to stop the flux drying out.
