Description

The Mercury IEC extension lead connects an IEC plug to an IEC socket over a 1m cable, extending mains power between equipment in AV racks, server cabinets, home studios and office workstations. The cable uses a 3-core BSI approved construction rated for 10A at 230V, supporting appliances up to 2300W.

Designed for short-distance power extension between IEC-compatible devices, the 1m length keeps cable runs tidy in equipment racks where devices are stacked vertically or positioned close together. The IEC C13 socket end fits standard kettle leads from monitors, desktop PCs, rack-mount audio interfaces and most AV equipment, while the IEC C14 plug end connects to UPS units, PDUs (power distribution units) or other IEC-socketed power sources.

The black outer jacket blends with typical rack-mount and desktop equipment, and the 3 x 0.75mm² cable construction provides adequate current-carrying capacity for most small-to-medium power loads without excessive cable stiffness. At 149g the cable is light enough to be supported by equipment sockets without strain.

Frequently Asked

What devices does this cable connect?

The IEC C14 plug end connects to PDUs, UPS units or other equipment with IEC C13 sockets. The IEC C13 socket end accepts standard kettle leads from monitors, PCs, audio interfaces and most rack-mount AV equipment. This allows you to extend power from a distribution unit to a device positioned 1m away.

What is the maximum load this cable can handle?

The cable is rated for 10A at 230V, which equates to a maximum load of 2300W. This is sufficient for most desktop PCs, monitors, small rack-mount amplifiers and similar equipment. Do not exceed the 10A rating.

Is the cable suitable for permanent installation in an equipment rack?

Yes. The 3-core BSI approved construction meets UK wiring standards for fixed installation in commercial and residential settings. The 1m length is typical for rack-to-rack or device-to-PDU connections where equipment is mounted in adjacent rack units.

Can this cable be used with international equipment?

The IEC C13/C14 connector standard is used worldwide, so the cable is physically compatible with international equipment. However, the cable is rated for 230V UK mains voltage. If you are using equipment rated for a different voltage, verify compatibility before connecting.
