Description
The Mercury Eco RG6 is a 100m reel of 75 Ohm coaxial cable built around a 1mm solid copper-clad steel (CCS) conductor, 4.6mm air-spaced polyethylene dielectric, aluminium foil screen, aluminium braid and black PVC sheath. The air-spaced dielectric reduces signal loss compared to solid foam PE at higher frequencies, making this cable suitable for satellite dish feeds, CCTV camera runs and terrestrial aerial installations where consistent impedance and low attenuation matter.
Designed for exterior and interior fixed installation, the RG6 cable carries 75 Ohm impedance across the full 5MHz to 2150MHz range, with return loss performance of 24dB minimum below 400MHz and 16dB minimum at 1000-2150MHz. Attenuation peaks at 33.6dB per 100m at 2150MHz, which is low enough for most domestic and light commercial satellite installations without requiring inline amplifiers. The cable's 6.6mm outer diameter fits standard F-type connectors and compression fittings.
The 100m reel carries metric cut markers along the sheath, allowing you to measure and cut lengths to exact requirements without waste. The 48-strand aluminium braid provides 95%+ coverage against electromagnetic interference, and the aluminium/PET foil beneath the braid adds a secondary shield layer. The black PVC sheath is UV-stable for external runs along walls and under eaves, though direct burial requires additional conduit protection.

Frequently Asked
What's the difference between air-spaced and foam PE dielectric?
Air-spaced PE uses spacers to suspend the conductor within the dielectric layer, creating air gaps that reduce capacitance and signal loss at higher frequencies. Foam PE is denser and easier to terminate but shows higher attenuation above 1GHz. For satellite installations carrying signals up to 2150MHz, air-spaced PE delivers lower loss.
Can this cable be used for Sky Q or Freesat installations?
Yes. The 75 Ohm impedance and low attenuation at 950-2150MHz make this cable suitable for Sky Q, Freesat and other satellite dish feeds. Use compression F-type connectors for termination and ensure runs are kept under 30m where possible to minimise signal degradation.
Is the cable suitable for outdoor runs?
The black PVC sheath is UV-stable for external wall runs, clipped under eaves or mounted in open air. For direct burial or underground ducting, run the cable inside protective conduit to guard against moisture ingress and mechanical damage.
What connectors fit this 6.6mm cable?
Standard F-type compression connectors designed for RG6 cable fit this 6.6mm outer diameter. Compression fittings provide better waterproofing and signal integrity than twist-on connectors, particularly for outdoor installations.
