Description

The Mercury is a 6-gang 13A trailing socket in a black thermoplastic housing, providing six UK 3-pin outlets from a single mains feed. A neon indicator at one end of the unit shows live power status, and the rear of the housing includes keyhole slots for optional wall or bench mounting.

Designed for offices, workshops, home entertainment centres and server rooms where multiple devices need mains power from one outlet, the Mercury extends a single wall socket into six individually-switched outlets. Each socket carries a 13A rating, though the total load across all six outlets is limited to 13A continuous (3,120W at 240V). The rewirable construction allows the cable to be replaced or adjusted if damaged, extending service life compared to moulded-plug trailing sockets.

The black finish keeps the unit visually recessive when installed under desks, behind equipment racks or on workshop benches. The housing measures approximately 400mm long and 60mm wide, with a 35mm depth excluding the plug. BS1363/A compliance confirms the socket meets UK electrical safety standards for domestic and light commercial use. The keyhole mounting slots accept standard wall fixings, allowing the unit to be secured vertically or horizontally depending on installation requirements.

Can all six sockets be used at full load simultaneously?

No. Each individual socket is rated to 13A, but the total combined load across all six outlets must not exceed 13A continuous (3,120W at 240V). This is a limitation of the single mains feed entering the unit. High-draw appliances like kettles, heaters or power tools should not be run simultaneously across multiple outlets.

Is the cable replaceable?

Yes. The Mercury uses a rewirable design, meaning the cable entry can be opened and the cable replaced if damaged. This is preferable to moulded-plug trailing sockets where cable damage requires replacing the entire unit.

Does it have surge protection?

No. The Mercury is a standard trailing socket with no integrated surge protection or filtering. For sensitive electronics, consider pairing with a separate surge protector upstream.

How is it mounted to a wall?

The rear of the housing includes keyhole slots that accept standard wall fixings (screws and wall plugs, sold separately). The unit can be mounted horizontally or vertically depending on installation needs.
