Description

The Mercury 5m power lead connects a standard BS 1363 UK mains plug to an IEC C13 socket, the 3-pin kettle-style connector found on monitors, desktop PCs, projectors, PA amplifiers, servers and most rack-mount AV equipment. The cable carries a 3 x 1mm² core rated at 10A continuous current, supporting devices drawing up to 2300W.

Designed for server cabinets, workshop benches, event rigs, home offices and media rooms where equipment sits further than 2-3m from the wall socket, the 5m length allows devices to be positioned according to workflow or acoustic requirements rather than proximity to mains outlets. The cable can be dressed along rack rails, threaded through cable management trays or run beneath desks without needing an extension lead in between the wall and the device.

The UK plug includes a BS 1363 certification and a 10A fuse rated to protect the cable under sustained high draw. The black PVC jacket maintains a low profile in professional installs where visible cables run across dark floors, beneath stages or along black rack frames. At 496g the cable has enough weight to resist snagging when pulled across a surface but remains flexible enough to coil without kinking.

Frequently Asked

What devices use an IEC C13 socket?

IEC C13 is the standard 3-pin kettle-style power socket found on desktop PCs, monitors, projectors, PA amplifiers, servers, network switches, rack-mount AV equipment and many domestic appliances including kettles and some printers. If the device has a detachable mains lead with a C14 plug on one end, this cable replaces it.

Can this cable handle high-draw equipment?

Yes, up to 2300W continuous at 230V mains. The 10A fuse and 3 x 1mm² core are rated to support devices such as projectors drawing 300-500W, small PA amplifiers drawing 150-400W, or multiple low-power devices daisy-chained through a PDU.

Is the cable suitable for outdoor or wet environments?

No. The Mercury power lead carries no IP rating and is designed for dry indoor use only. Do not use in damp environments, outdoor event setups exposed to rain, or anywhere moisture can contact the plug or socket.

Can the cable be coiled for storage?

Yes. The PVC jacket remains flexible enough to coil without permanent kinking. Coil loosely in a 300-400mm diameter loop for storage to avoid stressing the internal conductors over repeated packing and unpacking cycles.
