Description

The Mercury 3m power lead connects UK mains to IEC C13-equipped devices, with a fused BS 1363 UK plug at one end and an IEC C13 socket at the other. The 3 x 1mm² three-core cable carries a 10A rating and supports equipment drawing up to 2300W, covering desktop computers, monitors, AV amplifiers, printers and similar mains-powered devices.

Designed for office workstations, AV racks and home theatre installations where equipment sits 2-3m from the wall socket, the 3m length provides routing flexibility without excess cable pooling on floors or behind desks. The black PVC sheath and moulded black plug housing keep the cable visually discreet in professional and residential installations.

The UK plug carries a user-replaceable 10A fuse and meets BS 1363 approval. The IEC C13 socket mates with the standard IEC C14 inlet found on most desktop PCs, rack-mount equipment, studio monitors and professional audio gear manufactured since the 1990s. The cable weighs 308g and remains flexible enough to route through cable trays, behind furniture and around rack rails without kinking.

Frequently Asked

What equipment uses an IEC C13 socket?

The IEC C13 connector is the standard mains input on most desktop computers, monitors, printers, network switches, rack-mount AV equipment, studio monitors and professional audio gear. If your device has a three-pin inlet (usually labelled with voltage and current ratings), it's likely an IEC C14 inlet that accepts this C13 cable.

Can the fuse be replaced?

Yes. The UK plug uses a standard 10A BS 1362 fuse that can be replaced by opening the fuse carrier in the plug. Replace with a 10A fuse only — using a higher-rated fuse removes the protection the fuse is designed to provide.

Is 3m long enough for rack installations?

A 3m cable suits equipment installed in a rack positioned 1.5-2.5m from the wall socket, allowing enough slack for the cable to route behind the rack and up to the equipment without being taut. For racks further from the wall, consider a longer Mercury cable or an extension lead.

What's the maximum safe load?

The cable is rated for 10A at 230V, which equates to 2300W. Most desktop computers draw 300-500W, monitors 30-80W, and professional studio monitors 100-300W per speaker. The cable can handle any single device or combination of devices totalling under 2300W when used with a multi-way extension.
