Description

The Mercury 3-core round mains cable is a flexible PVC-sheathed cable with a 0.75mm² cross-sectional area, rated for a maximum 6A current load and supplied on a 100m reel. The cable uses 3 x 24/0.2mm stranded copper conductors inside a white PVC outer sheath with an overall diameter of 6.1mm. BSI approval to BS6500 and VDE approval confirm the cable meets UK and European standards for light electrical applications.

Designed for domestic and light commercial installations, the cable connects table lamps, floor lamps, small appliances and other low-current equipment to mains power. The round profile and flexible construction make it easier to route through tight spaces, behind furniture and around corners than stiffer flat twin-and-earth cable. The 6A rating suits loads up to approximately 1,380W on 230V mains, covering most portable lighting and small household appliances.

The white PVC sheath provides basic mechanical protection and electrical insulation while remaining visually unobtrusive when surface-run along skirting boards or behind furniture. The 100m reel length allows multiple runs to be cut from a single purchase, reducing waste on multi-point installations. The cable is not suitable for outdoor use, in-wall embedding or high-current loads above 6A.

Frequently Asked

What is this cable suitable for?

The cable is designed for light electrical applications such as table lamps, floor lamps, small appliances and low-current equipment up to 6A (approximately 1,380W at 230V). It is not suitable for high-current loads, in-wall embedding or outdoor use.

Is it flexible enough for tight installations?

Yes. The 3 x 24/0.2mm stranded copper construction and round PVC sheath provide flexibility for routing around corners, behind furniture and through confined spaces. It is more flexible than solid-core or flat twin-and-earth cable.

Does it meet UK wiring standards?

The cable carries BSI approval to BS6500 and VDE approval, confirming compliance with UK and European standards for flexible PVC-sheathed cables in light electrical applications.

How many metres are on the reel?

Each reel contains 100m of cable, allowing multiple runs to be cut to length as needed for different installations.
