Description

The Mercury 2-way satellite F splitter divides a single satellite feed into two outputs, allowing two receivers to connect to one dish through F-type coaxial connectors. The splitter supports frequencies from 5MHz to 2250MHz, covering standard satellite TV bands including Ku-band (10.7-12.75GHz downconverted to IF) and L-band signals from LNBs.

Designed for residential and light commercial satellite installations, the splitter fits into standard coaxial runs between an LNB and two receivers or set-top boxes. The zinc die-cast housing provides RF shielding to reduce interference and maintains impedance matching across the frequency range. The F-type connectors accept standard satellite coaxial cable with push-fit or threaded connection depending on the cable type used.

The splitter introduces signal loss (insertion loss) across both outputs, which is a normal characteristic of passive RF splitting. Most domestic satellite installations can accommodate this loss without needing additional amplification, provided the incoming signal strength from the LNB is adequate. For installations with long cable runs or multiple splits, checking signal levels after installation ensures reliable reception.

Frequently Asked

Can I connect two satellite boxes to one dish using this splitter?

Yes, provided both receivers are viewing channels from the same polarisation and frequency band at the same time. For independent viewing (different channels simultaneously), a twin or quad LNB on the dish is required instead, giving each receiver its own dedicated feed. A splitter shares one LNB output between two receivers.

What cables does it accept?

The F-type connectors accept standard satellite coaxial cable (typically RG6 or CT100). The connectors are compatible with both push-fit F-connectors and threaded F-connectors depending on the cable preparation.

Does the splitter need power?

No. The Mercury is a passive splitter and does not require external power. It allows DC power pass-through from the receiver to the LNB on one output path, so ensure the powered receiver connects to the DC-pass port if your installation uses LNB power from the receiver.
