This is a 2-core cable with two insulated conductors inside a single sheath, with no earth conductor. Twin-and-earth cable has two insulated conductors plus a bare earth conductor. This Mercury cable is used where an earth is not required or is provided separately, such as in double-insulated lighting circuits.
