Description
The Mercury 2-core round mains cable is a 0.75mm² CSA flexible cable rated for 6A maximum current, supplied on a 100m reel with a black PVC sheath. The cable carries two cores of 24/0.2mm stranded copper conductors inside a round 6.35mm outer jacket, giving it the flexibility needed for running through trunking, conduit, or along skirting boards without kinking.
Designed for powering light electrical appliances and equipment in domestic, commercial and light industrial installations, the cable suits table lamps, small fans, audio equipment, low-power tools and similar 230V devices drawing up to 6A. The round profile makes it easier to feed through tight spaces than flat twin-and-earth cable, and the PVC sheath provides mechanical protection without adding excessive stiffness.
Both BSI BS6500 and VDE approvals confirm the cable meets recognised European safety standards for mains-voltage flexible cables. The 100m reel length allows multiple runs to be cut from a single spool, reducing waste on projects requiring several short cable lengths. The black outer sheath is neutral enough to blend with most wall colours and skirting finishes without drawing attention to the cable run.

Frequently Asked
What appliances can this cable power?
The 6A rating suits light electrical equipment such as table lamps, small fans, radios, audio equipment, and low-power tools. It is not suitable for high-draw appliances like kettles, heaters, or washing machines, which require thicker cable with higher current ratings.
Is this cable suitable for permanent installation?
The cable is rated for fixed wiring applications under BSI BS6500 and VDE standards, so it can be used for permanent installation in conduit, trunking, or clipped to skirting. It should not be buried in walls or used outdoors unless inside additional protective conduit.
What's the difference between CSA and diameter?
CSA (cross-sectional area) of 0.75mm² refers to the total copper conductor area inside each core, which determines current-carrying capacity. The 6.35mm diameter is the overall cable width including insulation and outer sheath.
Does the reel come with end connectors?
No. The cable is supplied as bare wire on a reel. You will need to fit appropriate plugs, terminals or connection blocks depending on the application.
